Hello Eindhoven!
Gregory Porter, Ibrahim Maalouf, Marcus Miller, Kamasi Washington, José James…these are just a few of the big names that have come to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven in recent years for a smashing performance at So What’s Next, Eindhoven’s international jazz festival. Big names go hand in hand with high-profile newcomers in a weekend where everything revolves around inspiration and encounter in an atmosphere of adventurous live music that is jazz today in all its manifestations. Jazz connects like no other music genre styles, cultures and target groups from young to old and So What’s Next fully recognizes the power of jazz today. That is why So What’s Next does not only take place in Eindhoven’s Muziekgebouw, but the festival literally goes out into the city to reach a broad audience via numerous stages. This year So What’s Next is celebrating its 10th anniversary with another adventurous and inspiring line-up. What to think of the Turkish/Dutch phenomenon and Edison Jazz winner Karsu, the American soul-jazz star Lady Blackbird, jazz legend Archie Shepp who is coming to Eindhoven exclusively with his quartet, fusion icons Yellowjackets, the British rising star Ashley Henry and – from the USA – top saxophonist James Brandon Lewis. From the Netherlands Kika Sprangers Quintet, Guy Salamon Group, Hans Dulfer’s Total Response, Bruut! and many others will perform.
I am proud to be able to organize this great event for you with a fantastic team and all the artists.
I would say: be welcome, experience it and remember: you don’t have to like jazz to love So What’s Next!
Cu all, Barend Fransen
